Information

Casa Laurin is a LOVE STORY between a French Canadian and the B&B business – it started in 2000 when Ginette moved to Costa Rica to realize her dream!

Welcome to our little corner of paradise! Casa Laurin is an ongoing effort to offer you a place we would like to stay ourselves when we travel.

    Where are we?

Half way between San José (SJO) international airport (Juan Santamaria), Tobias Bolaños international airport (domestic flights) and downtown San José, and right in the middle of the country. We are half way between the Pacific Coast and the Caribbean.  Just the place to start your exploration of Costa Rica  starting with the Central Valley.

We are situated in a residential area of the upscale suburb of the capital named Escazu (Trejos Montealegre) and minutes from the Juan Santamaria (San José) International Airport.  We are within walking distance to restaurants, banks, supermarkets, a gym and other businesses .  We are just minutes away from the largest shopping mall inCosta Rica, the state-of-the-art hospital CIMA, top surgeons & dentists.

Your host, Ginette, is a French Canadian from Montreal, Quebec, born in a family of 8.  That is why she will serve you a delicious breakfast with a French flare and a smile.  Of course we also serve a blend of Costa Rican and more international dishes according to our guests’ preferences.

For lunch or dinner you can walk or take a short cab ride to local restaurants to enjoy good food, good service and good prices.   If you prefer to stay in after a day loaded with fun and adventure, we will be pleased to help you order in from a restaurant delivering your favorite food.  If you prefer to cook your own meals that is an option that we offer as well…as long as you are willing to clean what has been used.

If you want to find the special places we have excellent English speaking local guides to get you there. In particular, we specialize in turning transfers into interesting tours – it takes a little longer but why waste travel days just “getting somewhere”?

Are You a Baby Boomer thinking of relocation?

For many people Costa Rica is a place people think of for retirement in particular – good health care, not so far from North America, the nicest people on the planet and a perpetual spring weather at some altitudes.  We will be happy to share with you our knowledge of the country.  We don’t pretend to hold the truth but can certainly give a few tips about living happy ‘even after’ in this wonderful country.

And of course we suggest that you attend a two-day seminar offered by the Association of Residents of Costa Rica.  They have put together a summary of what you can expect in terms of amenities, health care, schools, history, neighborhood quality, access, banking, property rights, future development etc etc.

Not Ready to Retire/Thinking About a Business ?

Ginette has started a business in a foreign country on her own…and with the help of many friends (visible and invisible).  She will be pleased to share her experience if you are thinking of starting your own B&B.  The more the merrier!
